Resin bound driveways in Ipswich
A resin bound driveway is a mix of washed, kiln-dried aggregate and clear resin, blended on site and hand-trowelled to a smooth, level finish. Unlike loose gravel it does not scatter, and unlike block paving there are no joints for weeds to take. Done properly it is a fifteen-to-twenty-year surface. Aggregate and resin are mixed on site in controlled batches and trowelled out, typically at a 15 to 18 millimetre depth for driveways. The surface is usually ready to walk on within a day and to drive on within two to three, weather depending.
Specification points worth asking about
- UV-stable resin. Cheaper aromatic resins yellow and darken in sunlight. A UV-stable aliphatic resin holds its colour, which shows most on lighter aggregate blends.
- Aggregate depth matched to use. A driveway needs a deeper build-up than a path. If a quote does not distinguish the two, ask why.

Terrace frontages are small jobs with sharp constraints
